For many years we have not had standards and guidance on what the BA roles should represent. I find that the interest in CBAP is growing rapidly and will begin to be a standard (much like PMP) to work on selected projects. I would say the CBAP is definitely worth having on your resume when it comes down to making a selection on who they should hire. It is a credential that cant hurt....

Ya I definitely think its worth it and wont hurt. But the requirements are kinda too much I think? I would like it to be changed to TEST before Requirements. And not the other way around

Consider it an Investment in your career and then worry about the ROI later ... the best investment you can make is always in yourself, your skills and in your education ...

Think long term instead of short term ... you may not see an immediate ROI but you will see an ROI at some point in your career

I have to agree with Kingsley. I am a CBAP recipient and having this title on my resume has proven to be very worth it.
Some of the benefits I have experienced for being CBAP certified are:
1. Salary increase: Just as earning a PMP, when you become CBAP certified, your earning potential has a better chance of increasing. This also depends on how you present your new designation to current or future employers.
2. Setting yourself apart: More doors will open just because you have something other candidates don't have. There are only 500ish CBAP recipients in the WORLD.
3. Seniority: Not everyone can apply and become CBAP certified. With the rigorous application process and exam, those who hold this designation are truly senior BA who have mastered the knowledge areas of business analysis
4. Respect: It seemed that after I became CBAP, my recommendations were respected and taken in consideration more than when I wasn't. A good reason for this could be my boost of confidence after gaining the knowledge of business analysis in a structured way from the business analysis body of knowledge (BABOK)
5. Better you: if nothing else, because of the intense process of learning about business analysis in a structured way, you become a better business analyst and you have a paper that proves it.

Hope this answers your question

I posted the following in another thread:

BY FAR the best thing to do is study for an MBA. It's not as complicated as many people think and prepares you for much more senior roles, though it can work out very expensive. There are some cheap options such as the Guerrilla MBA at http://www.clickok.org or a web based approach at http://www.netmba.com. The best degrees are Harvard MBA (USA) at http://www.hbs.edu/mba/ or London Business School (UK) at http://www.london.edu/programmes/mba.html

p.s.
Most people who tell you not to do an MBA will not have done one themselves.

If you fall short of obtaining the CBAP. Consider the CCBA: http://thebamentor.com/cbap-business-analysis-articles/118-get-ready-for-the-ccba
